@Eden – Yep. Arachnophobic from day one. Would it help if I told you I fed dead spiders to Praying Mantis’ when I was a kid? heh heh. I may try to remedy that one of these days, however – start off big with a tarantula and go towards small, a run of the mill house spider.
@Patti: Don’t you love it when they give you a really hard time? Chiang is turning into a mega-bitch. :p

fabulous interview–Rebecca, I so know what you mean about planning one book and having a character start giving you a hard time because his or her story is more important and comes first, thanks. And I love your philosophy on horror–both the catharsis and the literary whacking.

I’m with you Netta…Rebecca is great! She’s tells it like it is – warts and all!

I learned a lot about her in this interview, but I am SHOCKED about one thing. Scared of spiders? I would’ve imagined that if Rebecca and I were childhood friends, we’d have played with insects together, feeding ants and flies into the webs to watch spiders come out for them.

The other fear — definitely not my idea of a good time either.
